This is the last one for this commission. This little cutie was fun to paint, except for her little wispy hairs. I simplified them a lot, but those little things always give me trouble. What a sweet face though, right?
Today I had a lot of issues. First, procrastination was my enemy this morning. Second, my brushes were not cooperating..which means that I may need new brushes. Third, when I am working on multiple portraits going to one home, I get myself hung up on the fact they are a series and will more than likely hang together, so they should all look the same as far as value and light. I have to remind myself that they are each little individual people and they should not all look the same. They have different skin tones and hair color and personalities...which are all more important than matching paintings. Anyway, I made it through my painting blocks..which makes for a pretty successful day.
Finally back at it!!! I thought I would start off with a fun portrait. This was a good warm up, after no painting for about a month...well I was painting..walls. But now we are all moved into our new house here in Indiana and I am back on track..and very happy about it.
Finally got the studio painted! Really excited to have a window this time. Painting walls in the new house has been taking up a lot of my time, but I plan on getting back to real painting next week. New city, new house, new studio...new work coming soon.
