We have been doing a lot of driving lately during our move. This was
from a photo I took on the road to my parents place in Beaverton,
Michigan..Curtis road to be exact. Makes me realize how nice it is to
hop in the car and drive to family and friends...it is always just down
So this is my setup for now. Thanks to my dad for letting me temporarily use his workshop for a studio while we are between houses. It is actually quite an upgrade compared to my basement studio at the old house..the lighting is better and I have any tool I need at my fingertips. Plus, my mom's flower garden is right out the door for subject matter. Not too shabby. I will post a new painting tomorrow.
I love white bleeding heart plants..they are so delicate and strange.
My daughter loves to play with the flowers..perfect for little fingers. Since I am working on a different computer with limited programs, I cropped part of the leaf off on the left. The whole leaf shows in the actual painting.
My daughter and I are having a lot of fun collecting flowers. These are just a few of what we found. I grabbed some more this morning when I was walking the dog. There is a lot of inspiration around my parents place.
Thought I would try to stay with a yellow and green color scheme...harder than I thought. Hopefully my colors are coming through correctly..having trouble using my parents computer as far as color correction.
This columbine is the star of the garden. The flowers make the most interesting shapes..love to paint them. It has been fun walking around finding flowers to paint. There are a lot of plants up here that I haven't painted before..nice to have a good selection.
Finally, back to painting after 2-1/2 weeks of moving. I am temporarily living with my wonderful parents for a few weeks with my daughter and my dog. Their neighborhood has lots of subject matter though, perfect for painting. I have been snipping flowers the last few days..a little from here, a little from there. So here is my first painting from my makeshift studio in my dad's workshop.
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. We are in the process of moving out of our house of 10 years. The last two weeks have consisted of dealing with all related to the move..unfortunately no painting. But..I will get back on track this week. For now, here is an oldie but a goodie. I figured it was a good one to post since I will be leaving my nest for good tomorrow. This is a crazy stuffed chicken a friend made for my husband..weird and cute at the same time, and very fun to paint.
