Girl 17

6x6 oil on paper
Girl 17 is another painting of my daughter Ginger.  This photo was taken after she caught a pretty large croppy out of the channel with her Grandpa.  The original photo is her with her catch, but I cropped in on her sweet little face.

Out of red

5x7 oil on panel
Little break from portraits to get back to the wino series.  Seems like every art reception we have, the reds go first..when we are out of red the party is over, or maybe it is just beginning, I guess it depends on your point of view.  In any case, these two reds were thoroughly enjoyed.

Girl 16

6x6 oil on paper
Girl 16 is Maia, sister to Elise-Girl 4and 13.  I have been wanting to paint her for a while so her mom sent me a sweet picture of her to work from.  She has the most beautiful eye color, and with her blond hair a fair skin she makes the perfect model.

Girl 15

6x6 oil on paper
Girl 15 is Layla again.  This angle was tough..hard to make her look like she is looking down rather than closing her eyes.  Felt good to paint again after a few days off with the family.

Boy 1

6x6 oil on paper
My first boy portrait is Reid, a sweet little boy who lives on our street.  My initial idea to do a series of just girls has changed..these portraits are so fun and such a learning experience, I can't just limit it to girls.  Not sure where all this is going..but I am enjoying the path at the moment.

Girl 14

6x6 oil on paper
I can't remember what face I asked her to make, but it is a great one.  This is Ainsley again-also Girl 11.  She recently had a birthday party and I took some pics of her little friends..should make for some great paintings.

Little Ellery

6x6 oil on paper
This is my first commission portrait, Ellery, and I have to say she was hard.  The first night I tried painting her I had two attempts and wiped both in frustration.  The next night I was very determined and it proved to be more successful.  Children under 3 I find more difficult to paint..they have such soft edges, very challenging.

Girl 13

8x8 oil on cardboard
Girl 13 is Elise, a young girl in my neighborhood..I have painted her before, Girl 4.  I am learning that portraits really strike a cord in must be the expressions we relate to.  Whatever it is, they sure are fun to paint.  I messed around with color a bit on this one, it has a little more stark contrast to experiment.
